Mac wallpaper: show on all Spaces—or set a different one
Yes, each Mac desktop can have its own wallpaper. The important part is changing it from the Space you mean to customise, then checking the result in Mission Control before you repeat the process.
Change the wallpaper on one desktop
First keep System Settings available while you move around: Control-click its Dock icon, choose Options → Assign To → All Desktops. Open System Settings → Wallpaper and make sure Show on all Spaces is off.
Switch to the target desktop, choose its image in Wallpaper settings, then move to the next desktop with Control–Right Arrow and repeat. Check the thumbnails in Mission Control as you go.
Use images at the display’s native pixel size
A wallpaper that matches the display’s physical pixel dimensions stays sharp and avoids unnecessary cropping. Retina displays use more physical pixels than the logical dimensions shown to apps, which is why a MacBook may report a scaled working area but need a much larger image file.
SpaceStamp uses the browser’s per-display pixel ratio when the Window Management API is available. In Safari, enter the monitor model or native dimensions manually because the browser does not expose every connected display to websites.

If macOS still crops the image, choose Fill Screen or Fit to Screen in Wallpaper settings. SpaceStamp keeps the key label inside a generous safe area for either choice.
Design for recognition
Mission Control thumbnails are small. A detailed photo that looks lovely full-screen can become visual mush there. A large project name, a strong background colour and one simple motif survive the reduction.
Keep the project name short. Add a second line only if it changes your behaviour, such as SHIP THE ONBOARDING or DEEP WORK. The best wallpaper tells you what this desktop is for before you notice which windows are open.
